We built our first bunkie in 2015 so we could have space for our parents to stay overnight and visit their grandchildren.

Our house wasn’t large enough for everyone, and my Mom was tired of sleeping on the couch, so she encouraged us to build something on our property.

I searched on the internet for a solution. I wanted to find something that was relatively easy to build and a reasonable price. Plus I didn’t want the hassle of getting a building permit.

Then I discovered a solution, bunkies you can build from a kit.

My Dad and I built our first bunkie in one weekend. I loved it so much that we built 4 more. I starting renting out the bunkies on Airbnb as a getaway from the city. They were booked almost every night, year-round and I realized how much these bunkies could help other families.

Our National Partners

We believe in giving back. We donate one night’s stay at Ronald McDonald House Canada every time we build a bunkie. We support Ronald McDonald House because they provide an important place for families to stay together while their seriously ill child is being treated in hospital.

Since 2020, we raised over $100,000 for RHMC, from every bunkie built, proceeds from the Bunkie Life book and Connection Cards, and donations from the wonderful Bunkie Life community #bunkielifegives

Whenever you purchase a bunkie, we will donate one more night for a family to stay at RMHC Canada.

We also work with Make-a-Wish Canada to help families. Make-a-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

In 2020 we assisted in making a wish happen for Ethan, who was diagnosed with a very rare cancer. He wanted a bunkie from Bunkie Life with all the add-ons. His dream was to have his own bunkie to play video games in. Many wonderful people came together to make his dream come true. Since then we’ve helped out with many different Make-A-Wish builds across Canada.

We purchased the 2019 loft bunkie for additional sleeping space at our cottage on the lake. David was nice enough to spend an hour with us, touring the models he had available on-site. Honestly the delivered product exceeded all my expectations. The wood was straight, clear and and planed absolutely true and smooth. All the milling was perfect and the bunkie went up exactly as the instructions pointed out. Perfect joints, perfect fit, and extremely easy to assemble. I wouldn't change a thing, and would have absolute confidence in recommending this product to the Queen of England! Congratulations David on an exceptional product and company.

It was an excellent build. Easy to put together. It only took us five days to complete our bunkie. From the base to the roof to the stain. Looking forward to sharing photos in your album.

I was very impressed with the Bunkie package! It went together pretty easily, all done in a weekend by three handy guys but non professionals. Looks great completed. The windows and doors are good quality and the extra space of the loft was the best feature. Very happy!

I bought the 2019 Bunkie model a few months ago to put on land that I purchased in St Eugene Ontario. David and Karrie were wonderful to deal with. After looking at many sites and plenty of tiny house videos I came across YouTube videos from Bunkie Life I decided to drive to see the different models... Also, I was apprehensive about buying something Online without seeing it live first. The videos show well but the actual real thing is beautiful! I just finished the exterior and roof last week. I did get help from a friend who teaches carpentry and he was impressed with the quality of the kit! This thing is SOLID and the details are stunning. You will be amazed at how big it feels inside for a no permit sized shed. I’m about to finish the interior next week with the installation of a cubic mini wood stove! Ordering: We ordered a bunkie during a promotion, so the Bunkie Life folks were a little overwhelmed, but they honoured the discount and got back to me as soon as they could. The process was very straightforward.

Delivery: Our cottage is nearly 500 km away from Bunkie Life, but they offer a delivery service that was really great, and for much less than it would have cost us to arrange ourselves.

Installation: Lots of videos and the instructions were easy to use, considering how complex the project is. And every time we had a question, David was an email or phone call away. He was very responsive, even outside of regular business hours, so we never got held up in our build, waiting for clarification.

Product: The end result is beautiful and exactly as we had imagined! The details are also great - wood windows, nice openings. Overall, would strongly recommend.
